David Simmons is proud to serve as Principal of William Fox Elementary School. With more than 21 years of experience in education, Principal Simmons has dedicated his career to creating schools where every child feels known, valued, challenged, and supported.

Principal Simmons began his career as an elementary school teacher and has since served in a variety of instructional and leadership roles, including classroom teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal, instructional supervisor, and principal. His career has taken him from classrooms and schools in Virginia to New York City and back to Virginia, giving him a broad perspective on teaching, learning, school leadership, and the importance of strong school communities.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Averett University, dual Master’s degrees in Childhood Education and Special Education from Touro University, and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Bank Street College of Education.
As a school leader, Principal Simmons believes that strong relationships are the foundation of strong schools. He is passionate about high-quality instruction, collaborative professional learning, student belonging, family partnerships, and ensuring that every student has access to the support and opportunities needed to thrive. He believes school leaders should be visible, accessible, and actively engaged in classrooms and throughout the school community.

Ebony Picot, affectionately known as “AP Pi,” is proud to serve as Assistant Principal of William Fox Elementary School. She believes that strong schools are built through collaboration, creativity, and meaningful relationships among students, staff, families, and the greater community.

AP Pi is committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and nurturing school environment where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to succeed. She believes that partnerships with families and community stakeholders are essential to enriching the educational experience and helping students reach their fullest potential.

As an instructional leader, AP Pi is passionate about student-centered learning and creating engaging opportunities that encourage curiosity, creativity, and academic growth. Her leadership is grounded in ensuring that all students have access to meaningful learning experiences while celebrating the diverse strengths, backgrounds, and perspectives that make the Fox community special.
Through collaboration, innovation, and a deep commitment to students, AP Pi works alongside staff and families to help every Fox grow as a confident learner and valued member of the school community.
